Praise the Lord, all you nations;

For his loving-kindness toward us is great,

Praise the Name of the Lord;
give praise, you servants of the Lord,
You who stand in the house of the Lord,
in the courts of the house of our God.

Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
sing praises to his Name for it is lovely.
For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself
and Israel for his own possession.

For I know that the Lord is great,
and that our Lord is above all gods.
The Lord does whatever pleases him, in heaven and on earth,
in the seas and all the deeps.

He brings up rain clouds from the ends of the earth;
he sends out lightning with the rain,
and brings the winds out of his storehouse.

It was he who struck down the firstborn of Egypt,
the firstborn both of man and beast.
He sent signs and wonders into the midst of you, O Egypt,
against Pharaoh and all his servants.
He overthrew many nations
and put mighty kings to death:

Sihon, king of the Amorites,
and Og, the king of Bashan,
and all the kingdoms of Canaan.
He gave their land to be an inheritance,
an inheritance for Israel his people.

O Lord, your Name is everlasting;
your renown, O Lord, endures from age to age,
For the Lord gives his people justice
and shows compassion to his servants.

The idols of the heathen are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.
They have mouths but they cannot speak;
eyes have they but they cannot see.

They have ears, but they cannot hear;
neither is there any breath in their mouth.
Those who make them are like them,
and so are all who put their trust in them.

Bless the Lord, O house of Israel;
O house of Aaron, bless the Lord.
Bless the Lord, O house of Levi;
you who fear the Lord, bless the Lord.
Blessed be the Lord out of Zion,
who dwells in Jerusalem.

How good it is to sing praises to our God!
how pleasant it is to honor him with praise!

The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem;
he gathers the exiles of Israel.
He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
He counts the number of the stars
and calls them all by their names.

Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
there is no limit to his wisdom.
The Lord lifts up the lowly,
but casts the wicked to the ground.
Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
make music to our God upon the harp.

He covers the heavens with clouds
and prepares rain for the earth;
He makes grass to grow upon the mountains
and green plants to serve mankind.
He provides food for flocks and herds
and for the young ravens when they cry.

He is not impressed by the might of a horse;
he has no pleasure in the strength of a man;
But the Lord has pleasure in those who fear him,
in those who await his gracious favor.

Worship the Lord, O Jerusalem;
praise your God, O Zion;
For he has strengthened the bars of your gates;
he has blessed your children within you.
He has established peace on your borders;
he satisfies you with the finest wheat.

He sends out his command to the earth,
and his word runs very swiftly.
He gives snow like wool;
he scatters hoarfrost like ashes.

He scatters his hail like bread crumbs;
who can stand against his cold?
He sends forth his word and melts them;
he blows with his wind, and the waters flow.

He declares his word to Jacob,
his statutes and his judgments to Israel.
He has not done so to any other nation;
to them he has not revealed his judgments.

With golden splendor and with roseate hues of morn,
O gracious Savior, light of light, this day adorn,
which brings to ransomed sinners hopes of that far home
where saints and angels sing the praise of martyrdom.

Peter, keybearer, Paul the teacher of mankind,
lights of the world and judges sent to loose and bind,
alike triumphant or by cross and sword-strike found,
in life’s high senate stand with victor’s laurel crowned.

O Rome the happy, who from such a princely pair
your robes are purple by such rare and precious blood!
Excellent you are, past all earthly loveliness,
not from your praises, but from merits of the saints.

Twin olive brands, pouring oil of gladness forth,
your prayers shall aid us, that for all our little worth,
believing, hoping, loving, we for whom you plead,
this body dying, may attain to life indeed.

Now to the glorious Trinity be duly paid
worship and honor, praise and service unafraid,
who in unchanging Unity, one Lord sublime,
have ever lived as now and to unending time. Amen.

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel,
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever.
